Security Update - Nairobi

Dear all,

You may be aware that there has been a grenade and shooting-related attack in the WestGate Mall in the Westlands area of Nairobi (north of the city centre) this morning.

At this stage reports are that it was an attempted robbery which has escalated.

We will be posting regular updates on the situation on the blogsite but please take the following precautions:

For those of you staying at Wildebeest Camp tonight – please take official taxis/private transfer direct from the airport to the Camp. The airport is in the south of Nairobi, as is Wildebeest Camp – so there is no need or necessity to drive through central Nairobi or go near to the Westlands area. Jess and Madoc, your Inspire Leaders will be at Wildebeest tonight as well.

If you are already in Nairobi – please remain at your accommodation. Do not travel to the city centre or to the north of Nairobi. Again – please take an official taxi direct to the airport tomorrow for the Team meet-up at 7am.

As you know, tomorrow morning we will be departing Nairobi Airport and will be travelling to Mitito Andei. Again, we will be driving direct from the airport in the south of Nairobi to Mitito, so will not be going near the Westlands area.

If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to e-mail or call our 24 hour Emergency Number: 07531 872 658.

Many thanks

Beth
